Anne Morrell Robinson’s Studio

KingRoss Quilts and Fibre Arts had a modest start; a young farm woman using the corner of a bedroom for making quilts to sell to friends and neighbours. As word got out and the demand grew a studio was added to the old farm house.

Today the studio is housed in another addition to the house that contains marketing space and working space for both Anne and her students. Visitors from all over the world enjoy seeing all the work available to purchase as well as seeing where and how it is made. There is a very large selection of both wall and bed quilts available for sale and Anne is happy to do a commissioned piece.

Yes, it is off the beaten path and you do have to drive almost 12km on a gravel road but when you are almost there and the valley starts to open up into the Big Intervale and Kingross area you will realize you are in a very special and beautiful part of Cape Breton.

The studio is open year round but it is best to call or email ahead to be sure it’s open when you would like to visit. Sometimes life just gets in the way or there is someplace else we have to be that day. Cell phones don’t work in this area yet and please, please, please, DO NOT rely on your GPS to find us. Use the provided directions. We have signs along the way as does the Big Intervale Fishing Lodge which is just beyond us and is a great place to spend the night or grab an excellent meal.

If you are so inclined; bring your bike, your fly rod, a canoe or your hiking boots and make a day of exploring the area. We would be happy to point you in the right direction.
